Matched Mentorship Program

The 2022-2023 applications are open! Please complete the application below if you are interested in becoming a mentor or mentee.

PHYLA offers a matched mentorship program to allow participating young professionals to learn from more experienced professionals. For this program, mentors are defined as professionals with at least 5 years of full-time public health experience. Mentees are defined as professionals with fewer than 5 years of public health experience. Age is not relevant; for example, a mentee could have years of experience in another industry and is looking to transition career fields.

Participating in a matched mentorship program is an opportunity for more intensive networking than could be gained during a one-time networking event, for example. Program participation is voluntary. Matched pairs are expected to meet at least four times a year from November to June; this may be virtually or in person. No obligations are required beyond the program year, though matched pairs are encouraged to keep in touch.

Participation is a wonderful way for mentees to expand their professional network, learn about career paths, and gain perspective for their career questions. Mentors can pass on their knowledge gained to the next generation, gain inspiration from folks excited to enter the field, and help build the capacity and enthusiasm of the public health workforce. PHYLA hopes the participation is mutually beneficial, and that the relationship offers support and guidance in a positive, non-judgmental environment. Application Deadline October 1, 2022
